Raptrix sp (Peruvian Ant Mantis)
Raptrix sp (Peruvian Ant Mantis) (3rd instar) 1 x nymph for sale
Raptrix is a genus of insects , of the order Mantodea , family Acanthopidae , subfamily Acontiothespinae and tribe Acontistini.
Very little is known about this amazing little mantis. Coming from Peru, this is a small mantis species, and has an uncanny resemblance to ants. This mimicry is common to most mantis species, more so in the early 1st and 2nd instar stages of development. But Raptrix with its ‘arc-shaped’ abdomen, can take on characteristics of an ant right up until sub adulthood. This mimicry makes Raptrix an amazing mantis for anyone to observe, and enjoy.
